Fund Accountant Position

Level – Fund Specialist/Financial Officer

JPMorgan Private Equity Funds Services (PEFS) provides fund administration services to private equity firms and institutional limited partners.  The business was launched in November of 2005 through the commercialization of the finance and technology team supporting JPMorgan’s various private equity entities.   PEFS has over 100+ dedicated finance and technology professionals with offices in New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Dallas and London.  The business currently services over 130 plus funds, which represents roughly $25 Billion in committed capital, as well as the largest institutional investors with over $50 Billion in aggregate committed capital across several investments.

PEFS is a part of Worldwide Securities Services (WSS) which provides innovative custody, fund accounting, securities and alternative investments services to the world’s largest institutional investors, broker dealers, hedge funds and private equity firms.  WSS is the global industry leader with $11.2 trillion in assets under custody and serves over 80 markets worldwide.

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage/perform daily, monthly, quarterly and annual accounting functions (prepare journal entries, prepare bank and custody reconciliations, close books and records)
  • Prepare financial statements for funds
  • Maintain and understand the various general ledgers for multiple Funds
  • Maintain a schedule of investments and legal, tax and accounting support for investments
  • Assist with annual audits and tax return preparation
  • Analyze financial and investment transactions
  • Support bank deposits and treasury functions by preparing bank requests and wire information
  • Assist in the preparation of capital calls, distributions, investor financial reports and capital statements
  • Liase with external investment managers, auditors, brokers, and other service providers to investment funds
  • Address LP inquiries and correspondence
  • Understand client relationships and expectations to ensure client deliverables are timely and accurate
  • Identify fund issues and escalate to Fund Manager on a timely basis
  • Assist/support the Fund Manager with special projects and requests as assigned

Qualifications

  • 1-5 years staff accounting experience preferred
  • Prior investment/partnership accounting experience a plus
  • Must possess at least a Bachelors degree in Accounting
  • CPA is a plus
  • Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Word (including mail merge for several hundred LPs)
  • Must be a team player with the ability to network with co-workers
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work in tight time frames
  • Ability to work independently with strong follow through
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Highly organized

CPA Review with Mr. Lord

The Accounting Club is happy to invite Mr. Lord to give a presentation on campus Wednesday, August 6, 4:00pm – 6:00pm. Mr. Lord is a Becker CPA Review instructor for classes in SF bay area. He will provide details on the CPA exam, its value, and the review classes. During his presentation, you will discover his teaching style and will be given the opportunity to ask questions.

2008 Summer and Fall Events

Time to mark your calendars! The upcoming events for Summer and Fall are as follows:

IRS Training Seminar: Monday and Tuesday, July 28-29.

The IRS is seeking volunteers to present a seminar to small-business owners regarding employment taxes (payroll taxes). Training and resource materials will be provided by the IRS. We are scheduled to attend the two-day training session in Oakland on July 28-29. Anyone interested in joining this seminar, please send email to gguchinese@gmail.com to begin registration. To participate, you must register by this Friday, July 18, 2008.

CFA Review: Thursday, July 31, 1:30 PM – 3:30 PM.

The CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) designation the most respected and valued credential in the finance and investment profession. Stalla CFA Review has more than 30 years experience in guiding candidates to mastery for the CFA Exams. The presentation will cover the information on CFA exam, its value, and Stalla CFA Review courses. Individuals will be given time for asking questions as well.
