Charter

Article I – Name

The name of this organization shall be Chi Pi Alpha Accounting Club.

Article II – Purpose

The purpose of this organization shall be to promote networking, host professional events and help its members grow.

Article III – Membership

A. Qualifications of Members

1. A member of Chi Pi Alpha Accounting Club shall be a Golden Gate University current/former student in good academic standing, GGU alumni, and GGU professor.

2. Voting privileges shall be granted only to registered members of the club.

3. The responsibilities of all members shall include an active participation in the club’s activities.

B. Assessments

1. A member may terminate a membership in the club at any time provided that the aforementioned member notifies a Chi Pi Alpha board officer of his/her intention in a written form (i.e., a letter or an email). A 2/3-majority vote of the Chi Pi Alpha board officers may terminate a member’s membership in the club at any time provided that the member does not meet the qualifications specified in A.1.

Article IV – Officers and Committees

A. Criteria

1. The Chi Pi Alpha officers must be current GGU students in good academic standing and with high moral values.

B. Election and Removal

1. The officers shall be elected by a majority vote of the members present at the annual election meeting or electronic balloting, which shall be scheduled during the month of May. To constitute a quorum, there should be at least five members present at the annual meeting.

2. An officer may be removed or appointed within the Chi Pi Alpha board by the unanimous vote of the active board officers via electronic balloting or meeting where all officers are present.

3. In the event an officer resigns before the end of his/her term, he/she is responsible for finding a replacement candidate to fill a vacancy on the board.

The following positions approved for the 2006 to 2007 year are:

  1. President
  2. VP Finance
  3. VP Events
  4. VP Web Communications
  5. VP Membership Communications
  6. VP PR
  7. VP Operations

Article V – Meetings

The President shall schedule and conduct meetings when required. The board meeting shall be attended by at least 3 board members including the President in order for an issue to be addressed. All officers shall be notified in written form (via an email) of the meeting at least 5 business days prior to the scheduled meeting.

Article VI – Decision Making Process

To conduct a quorum, a 2/3-majority vote of the active board officers shall be required via electronic balloting or an in person meeting.

Article VII – Fiscal Budget

All allocated accounting club funds must be directed toward club events in which accounting club members are aware of through email and public fliers.

Article VIII – Amendment Process

This governing document may be amended by a 2/3-majority vote of the officers via electronic balloting or an in person meeting.

Chi Pi Alpha officers amended and approved this charter via a 2/3 majority vote on June 21, 2006.
